Methodist minister and educator. Earl David Clarence Brewer was born 26 May 1914. He attended Rutherford Junior College, B. Ph. 1932; Emory University, B.D. 1937; Duke University, M.A. 1947; University of North Carolina, Ph. D. 1951. Brewer began his career as a Methodist minister in 1938 with the Western North Carolina Conference.
